What is Google Sans Text and when was it first released?

Google Sans Text is a variation of the company's Google Sans font and has been in use since as early as 2020. While similar to Google Sans and Product Sans, Google Sans Text is better suited for smaller point sizes and has a more neutral tone than Google/Product Sans:
